Terms & Conditions of Participation
By participating in the Body Metrics Australia research project, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Purpose of the Research
This research is conducted as part of the RMIT University Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) program and aims to investigate Australian anthropometric measurements to support research into apparel sizing, garment fit, and the potential development of more consistent Australian sizing standards.
2. Voluntary Participation
Participation is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to participate or withdraw from the research at any time before your data has been de-identified and incorporated into the research dataset, without penalty or disadvantage.
3. Data Collection
Participants may be asked to provide:

Basic demographic information (such as age range, gender, and postcode)

Height and weight (where applicable)

Mobile 3D body scans

Automatically generated anthropometric body measurements

Optional survey responses relating to clothing size and fit
No medical diagnosis or health assessment is undertaken as part of this research.
4. Use of Your Data
Your data will be used solely for approved academic and research purposes, including:

7. Third-Party Technology
This project uses 3DLOOK software to generate anthropometric measurements from participant images.
By participating, you acknowledge that your images and measurements will be processed using the secure 3DLOOK platform in accordance with their privacy and security policies.
8. Participant Responsibilities
Participants confirm that:

Where possible, identifying information will be removed and replaced with anonymous participant codes before analysis.

The information collected through this research is intended solely for academic research purposes.
The anthropometric measurements generated by the 3D body scanning technology:

are estimates generated using computer vision technology;

are not medical measurements;

should not be relied upon for medical diagnosis, treatment, health assessment or professional advice;

do not guarantee clothing fit for any particular brand or garment.
Neither the researchers, RMIT University, nor 3DLOOK warrant that measurements produced through the software are suitable for commercial tailoring, healthcare, or any purpose outside this research.
Intellectual Property
All research methodology, reports, graphics, databases, analysis and website content remain the intellectual property of the researcher and/or RMIT University unless otherwise stated.
Participants retain ownership of their personal information but grant the research team permission to use de-identified data for approved research purposes.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the researchers, RMIT University and technology partners accept no liability for any direct or indirect loss arising from participation in this research, use of the website, or reliance on research findings.
